Can Our Pets Help With Stress

Can Our Pets Help With Stress

Our Pets are our family! They mean as much to us as any other family member would. We enjoy their company and being with them each day instantly brightens any mood. It’s been proven that our pets and our mental health are closely linked. Research confirms that pets contribute to many health benefits. Having a Cat or Dog as part of your family can help with depression, anxiety, and stress. Not to mention that they become our companions and help with loneliness. The love and joy that our pets give us has many benefits.
Studies have shown that when someone pets a friendly animal their blood pressure goes down, heart rate slows, breathing becomes more regular, and muscle tension relaxes. Since these studies they have used animals for therapy in many way for mental & emotional support. Furthermore those studies have shown that pet owners are improved in self esteem, physically fit, less lonely, less preoccupied, more extroverted, and less fearful.
With all this in mind and how our pets do so much for us. What can we do to give back to them besides love? Before starting Calma Eleganza I was very active fostering for a cat rescue. Rescues work entirely on donations and adoption fees. No one is paid for the love and care they give when rescuing these beautiful animals. Their payment comes in love and seeing them go to a wonderful home. In order to keep the rescues running they need supplies and vet care. That comes at a price and is not free for them. Please consider opening your heart and making a donation to your local animal rescue. Also when looking for a new member of your family please support a rescue. Lets give back to these little ones in our lives that provide so much positivity and mental health for use. They need us as much as we need them.
